The Shore at Katathani, Kata Noi Beach, Phuket, Thailand
THE BACKGROUND: A luxury beachfront pool villa resort which opened in April 2010 (with an official opening on November 1) at one end of Kata Noi Beach, adjacent to the large Katathani Hotel. Welcoming mainly families for some 20 years, The Shore at Katathani is an upscale hillside property which is targeting the couples market, primarily honeymooners. No children under 12 are allowed at The Shore.
WHERE IS IT? At the southwest tip of Phuket Island, about an hour from Phuket International Airport.
THE RESORT: A hillside complex of 36 villas – with a further 11 opening this month (on November 15). Three categories make up the portfolio – Pool Villas, Seaview Pool Villas and Two-bedroom Villas – and all have their own pool. Most offer stunning views of the bay and beach below. Golf carts take guests to and from their rooms.
THE ROOM: Spacious, luxurious and beautifully furnished including a king- size bed and a writing desk. The huge bedroom has a full wall window that overlooks the ocean, a view which can also be enjoyed from the personal sundeck and swimming pool outside. The large bathroom includes two hand-basins, dog’s leg bath and a capacious shower that would have little difficulty accommodating a football team. A hallway with lots of wardrobe space completes the room count. Amenities include air-conditioning, flat-screen TV, sound entertainment system, wireless Internet, mini-bar, safe and bathrobes.
THE RESTAURANT: The Harbor serves breakfast, lunch and dinner overlooking Kata Noi Beach with a menu that combines ‘classic and inventive international cuisine'. Drinks can be enjoyed in The Lighthouse or The Shore’s wine cellar, The Cove.
THE FACILITIES: There’s a beachfront pool, fitness centre, library and gift shop but guests also have complimentary use of the neighbouring Katathani’s facilities which include six swimming pools, three Jacuzzis, saunas, a spa, dive shop, tennis, putting and Thai cooking classes among many others. The Shore can also help with wedding arrangements.
THE COST: Nightly rates start from THB 21,000 (around £445) including breakfast, taxes and service but until December 21, bonus nights are available: pay for three nights and get one night free; pay for six/ get two free; pay for nine/get three free.

Farce
A blissful place to stay for loved-up couples before, during or after a wedding! Villas are outstanding and perfect to while away the hours but there are plenty of amenities to enjoy too.
