The North West Province can boast two of Africa’s leading game parks. Surrounding Sun City, Pilanesberg National Park has benefited from a vigorous conservation programme which has resulted in a well-stoked park that numbers over 10,000 animals, including around 300 rhinos. The third-largest game reserve in southern Africa offers escorted and self-drive game drives, and a hot air balloon option. In the north of the country, Madikwe Private Game Reserve offers Big Five game-viewing and around 300 resident and migrant bird species. It also has over 20 lodges and camps, many of them offering the ultimate in bush luxury.
