Hotel Review
Coconut Bay, St Lucia, Caribbean
www.coconutbayresortandspa.com
THE BACKGROUND: St Lucia’s most southerly hotel and the closest to the international airport, the 254-bedroom resort is divided into two areas, one a tranquil dedicated adult-only side and the other a lively fun-filled family wing.
WHERE IS IT? Its proximity to the airport means you can be in the pool or sipping a cocktail within five minutes of exiting the terminal building. And reassure clients with concerns about aircraft noise – this is the Caribbean and on a busy afternoon you may see up to six planes leaving the airport, which is an attraction in itself.
THE ROOM: A spacious en-suite family room has two queen-sized beds, satellite TV, air conditioning, safe, tea and coffee-making facilities, sofa and coffee table plus good storage space. The en-suite has a shower, toilet and sink unit.
RESTAURANT & BARS: The hotel has four restaurants, two main bar areas plus a swim-up bar in the main pool area and a bar situated at the adults-only pool. The main restaurant offers buffet-style dining for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Two themed restaurants – one Italian and the other Asian – offers an a la carte option in the evenings, whilst the beach grill has ‘fast-food’ and snack options during the day and evening.
FACILITIES & ACTIVITIES: This was our second visit to the resort, after being persuaded to return by our children, who love it! With St Lucia’s only water park, with two waterslides and a lazy river, paint-balling, kids club, tennis courts, table tennis, football pitch, three pools and a host of activities arranged throughout the day there was always something to do. There is a full list of activities every day and the fully-supervised kids club was one of the best I’ve seen. There’s also a spa offering a range of treatments.
RECOMMEND TO: Families. Not least the five-minute transfer from the airport (most other island hotels require a transfer of at least one hour), everyone we spoke too seemed to be having a great time!
THE COST: Seven nights all-inclusive with Virgin Holidays, including scheduled flights from Gatwick with transfers, starts from £3,272 (for a family of four). Prices are based on two adults and two children travelling and sharing a deluxe garden view room (splash).

Loved It!
Farce
As a great child-friendly family resort – water park, activities for both adults and children, friendly staff and restaurants – the kids loved it and keep asking when we’re going back for a third visit!!
