THE BACKGROUND: The Kimberly is a boutique hotel offering ‘European-style elegance and service’. Among its varied mix of 192 guest rooms and suites are some Luxury Suites which include Jacuzzis.
WHERE IS IT? Perfectly placed in the heart of Midtown Manhattan this ‘hidden treasure’ is just a short walk from the Rockefeller Center, Times Square, SAKS on 5th Avenue and all the many attractions of this central part of town. A subway entrance is just steps away and buses too pass nearby. A taxi from JFK Airport takes around 45/60 minutes.
THE ROOM: A spacious bedroom with king-size bed plus separate living room with very large sofa bed and private terrace stretching across both. Both rooms have wide-screen TVs. The large marble bathroom has a heated floor and there is also a small cupboard area with coffee-maker, sink and microwave for small-scale self-catering. Room extras include Italian linens, Wi-Fi and Neutrogena amenities. An electric shoe cleaner is an unusual extra.
BARS & RESTAURANT: The hotel recently opened a rooftop penthouse bar which offers stunning views of the New York skyline, including the beautiful Chrysler building. The Alfred restaurant is due to open this spring but in the meantime the Nikko Midtown is right next door and serves New York’s trendiest cocktails and tapas in one of the city's chicest clubs. In contrast, two doors along is The Luncheonette, one of the Big Apple’s great eateries. It offers good food at low prices.
FACILITIES & ACTIVITIES: The Kimberly’s room rates include complimentary use of the New York Health and Racquet Club and sunset cruises, in season, along the Hudson River. There’s also a tiny business area with a computer – which is free to use – plus Clefs d'Or Concierge who can help with hotel/airport transfers; travel confirmations; reservations to the most popular restaurants; and tickets to Broadway’s hottest shows. Pearranged itineraries can also be created.
RECOMMEND TO: Families, couples or business travellers. There are various suite options to suit every category of traveller.
