THE BACKGROUND: This five-star adults-only resort offers a welcoming and homely environment from the moment you arrive. Designed to reflect the charm of a Mexican hacienda with a splash of Mediterranean chic, it offers 291 finely-appointed luxury suites and guest rooms.
WHERE IS IT? Ideally located on the Riviera, Secrets Capri is a 35-minute drive south from Cancun International Airport and just five minutes from the buzzy Playa del Carmen. For those seeking some thrills, three major adventure parks – Xplore, Xcaret and Xel-Ha – are located nearby.
THE ROOM: Our spacious Junior Suite Ocean View room certainly didn’t disappoint. Located on the second floor, the room offers amazing views of the Caribbean and has a marble bathroom. Outside there is a terrace with table and chairs – a great spot from which to watch the sun set.
THE RESTAURANT: There's a choice of five gourmet a la carte restaurants offering Italian, Mediterranean, Pan Asian and Mexican cuisine, fresh seafood and grilled specialities. A special mention must also go to the breakfast served in La Riviera – the range and choice of food is unbelievable!
THE FACILITIES: Secrets Capri's $2 million spa offers a whole range of exclusive treatments combining hydrotherapy and indigenous treatments as well as an outdoor 'spa garden'. Unlimited spa packages can be pre-booked through UK operators and offer great value for money. The resort has to its own pristine white- sand beach close to the world’s second largest barrier reef – so the snorkelling is fantastic! Guests can kayak, windsurf, sail and snorkel. Back on land they will never be bored: there’s the option to learn Spanish, make cocktails, join in team sports and much more.
HIGHLIGHT: The very relaxed atmosphere of what is a unique hotel experience which really lives up to the property's mission of ‘Creating Memories’.
RECOMMEND TO: This is an adults-only resort but also suggest to couples, large groups, singles and honeymooners. Weddings are conducted in the beach point gazebo.
THE COST: Villa suite rack rates range from £671 pn although a seven-night (for the price of five) packaged price – including flights – with Carrier - is from £2451 in a Rehendi Room, room only.
